PROCESSING TIMES: All of my items are handmade and made to order unless otherwise noted. Processing times shown at checkout is approximate, and effected by how many current open orders I have going at a given time and material/supply availability. Your processing time may be adjusted to align bulk shipping dates.
SALE ITEMS: Items purchased as a part of an active sale or promotion may be subject to processing time adjustments due to higher-than-average build queues.
LYRE TUNING: Your build was set up and fully tuned, allowed to settle in, and retuned before shipping. You will need to retune it upon delivery as it was packaged firmly to prevent damage, traveled by land and air, and handled by countless people before arriving at your door. I personally use and recommend the gStrings tuning app for smartphones, or a Snark Multi-Instrument clip on tuner.
LYRE STRINGS & REPLACEMENT SETS: Unlike low quality imported lyres, string replacement is not needed with a new BJL lyre! Your lyre was strung with very high quality American made strings, and you can expect to get many, many hours of playing on your workshop installed strings. In the event of a break (usually from over tightening a string), String set lists are available to confirmed customers through a simple message request to the shop: brandonjohnluthiery@gmail.com. Strings are direct size replacements, made in the USA, and sold much less expensively than I can sell them.
SHIPPING: Please verify your address at checkout. No custom or alternate shipping requests available, and no address changes after a sale is finalized.
LUMBER: Out of respect for the environment, and to support small local businesses, I strive to use locally-harvested PA native hardwoods for my builds. On some occasions, and usually due to high shop demand and decreased local availability, I will substitute lumber with equally beautiful and tonally identical FSC forestry certified lumber. Any non-native woods used have been sourced from private reclaimed lumber sellers or architectural salvage organizations.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: Buyers are responsible to pay the additional costs such as duties, taxes, and customs clearance fees. Import charges can vary widely but are most commonly based on the price and type of item, package weight and dimensions, origin country, and the taxes, duties, and fees of the destination country. We are unable to predict which of these fees, if any, will be applied. Please take this into consideration when purchasing internationally.
Brandon John Luthiery is a one-person operation, from the initial design to packaging and shipping, specializing in thoughtful lyre harp designs that beautifully balance quality and tone.
About my build process, and the beautiful native hardwoods used:
Operating a Made-to-Order shop was a decision I made early on which allows me as a sole operator to balance my work process, my commitment to being a present family member, and my full-time job. I appreciate the patience granted to me by my customers when placing an order for a build, and strive to always ship your build by the date listed, or sooner, with consistent and repeatable high quality standards. It's rare these days, but I believe this is one time when something is worth the wait.
By using lumber native to Pennsylvania, the state BJL is settled in, I am able to provide instruments that are tonally equivalent or superior to other instruments, made from responsibly sourced materials, many of which are harvested, milled, and dried within a few miles of my shop. This creates a very special loop where one small business is supporting other local small U.S. businesses and their families, all while spreading the joy of music and creativity.
